Counsellor in Bath and Bristol

In my experience one of the most important aspects of the counselling process is finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with and really understands the unique qualities you bring as an individual and I appreciate how hard that can be to identify, just by scrolling through a list of counsellors all offering different approaches.

So, I would encourage you to have a read of my website and if you feel you may like my way of working, do book in for a free 20 minute introductory consultation. This will be a chance for me to answer any questions about myself and the counselling process and you can discover if working with me might meet your needs.

I look forward to speaking with you soon

Kind regards

Susan

Hello & Welcome

Thank you for visiting Cloud Nine Counselling. My name is Susan Chesworth and I am a counsellor providing both short and long-term therapy to adult individuals in Bristol and Bath in person and also online (Zoom) or via the telephone. A combination of these platforms can also work well if more convenient.

Susan, counsellor

Your counselling journey will be a unique reflection of you and your needs. Counselling lends itself both to short-term work, for example, to help you identify current challenges and action changes and longer term work, if you wish perhaps to gain a better understanding of established behaviour patterns or how your childhood, relationships or past development can continue to impact you. You may already know what brings you to counselling or you may discover this on your journey.

You may find Counselling beneficial in the following areas:

• to experience your feelings and to be fully heard

• to evaluate what is helpful to you and what to let go of

• to safely explore memories or experiences

• to gain a clearer understanding of who you are and what you want

• to consider your behaviour patterns, coping skills and resilience.

• to evaluate your relationships and interactions with others.

• To identify and action change in your life.

Increasingly, our 21st Century lifestyle demands that we cram more energy into meeting the 24 / 7 expectations of our modern society and the sometimes unrealistic standards we can impose both on ourselves and our relationships to be ‘perfect’. This can leave little time for self care and reflection. Non judgemental support, connection and the ability to be truly heard can increasingly be missing in our lives and counselling can provide this within a safe, secure environment.

I am a fully-qualified counsellor trained in humanistic and integrative counselling this means my approach is drawn from a range of theories which can be tailored to your individual needs.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by their ethical guidelines. I have regular professional development and clinical supervision. I hold professional insurance and ICO membership.

For many years I worked in Healthcare and then within the Public Sector emergency services. I therefore have a working and lived knowledge of the particular aspects of these challenging roles and all that they bring in terms of the personal effect they can have on an individual.

Over the years, I realised the part of my job I valued the most was having the space to be able to sit and talk with people. More recently, I have been involved in delivering acute mental health support in an occupational setting

I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of content.

I strive to value and support equality and diversity within my work and in meeting my client’s individual needs.

Please advise me if you require any adjustments to allow you to access my counselling services, whether that be relating to physical, psychological or communication needs

Fees & availability

Therapy sessions for individuals last 50 minutes. Most people begin with weekly sessions but we can consider what will work best for you.

Cost = £55 per session.

I accept payment in cash or by bank transfer.

Please be aware that if you want to cancel an appointment, I require a minimum of 48 hours notice, otherwise you will still need to pay for the missed session If you are late for an appointment, you are still liable for the full session fee and I am not able extend the appointment to make up for any lost time.

You may not know it, but you’ve already taken the first step in your counselling journey...

However, I appreciate it can be a big decision from thinking about counselling to starting some sessions and that you may still have specific questions or queries that I have not been able to address on this page.

Please do contact me for an initial free 20 minute telephone consultation or I am happy to answer a specific question by text or email.

How long will I need to have counselling?

For some people a few sessions will allow them to re focus, whilst others may require more of an open-ended approach. Before we begin any work we will agree on the number of sessions and at the end of that number review our progress.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

My aim is to offer a first appointment – known as an initial assessment – within 1-2 weeks.
